It all began in a garden
In the beginning, plants and fruit trees were created to provide sustenance to the people of theearth, and entrusted to our stewardship. Yet hunger still exists in our world, in our country, in our own community.
If you love me, feed my sheep
So what can we do? Created in God’s image we, too, can plant a garden, can tend theseedlings, can nurture growth, can share the harvest, that all may be fed.
Seeds of change
What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.
(Hebrews 11:1, TLB)
Lehigh Acres Presbyterians have a vision. It’s called Faith Garden and it’s all about planting seeds of change in their community.
Located on their property at 60 Bell Boulevard North,Faith Garden will offer 15 raised beds where vegetables can be grown year-round. Fruit trees will line the northeast side of the plot. A shaded patio will provide space for rest, for fellowship and for education. And for those with little experience using fresh produce, the adjacent Faith Hall kitchen offers room for cooking demonstrations.
The produce from Faith Garden will be shared with those in need through Lehigh Community Services Food Pantry.
Farmers know the soil must first be properly prepared before planting. Come alongside us to help make Faith Garden grow—green thumb optional!
We need builders, gardeners, harvesters and supporters from throughout the community… young and old, singles and families, students and seniors. There’s a spot for you!
Jesus said, “Do you love me? Feed my sheep.” – John 21
